Pentose Phosphate Pathway Flashcards
1
Q
What are the starting and ending materials for the PPP?
A
G6P and NAD+ to Ribose5Phosphate and NADPH
2
Q
What is the rate limiting step of the PPP?
A
G6P dehydrogenase (G6Pā> 6phosphogluconolactone)
3
Q
What are the two phases of the PPP?
A
Oxidative and Nonoxidative
4
Q
When are the oxidative and nonoxidative phases used?
A
Oxidative phase is used when you need rubose5phosphate. Nonoxidativee recycles it back to G6P when the cell doesnt need it for like DNA replication and stuff. Remember G6P can be used in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis and glycogen metabolism.
