3
Q

99% (Vt/Wf) MAX

A

The value of specific range resulting from increasing true airspeed from the speed
at (Vt/Wf) MAX to give a value of specific range which is one percent less than (Vt/Wf) MAX.

Q

Flaps Up Safety Speed (FUSS)

A

The minimum speed recommended for normal operation with the flaps
retracted. FUSS is the larger of 1.25 times the flaps up power off stall speed or the flaps up air minimum control
speed. Operation at FUSS provides 1.7g of maneuvering capability with all engines operating or 1.3g of
maneuvering capability with one engine inoperative.

Q

10,000 foot
ETP

A

Using 245 knots is recommended, since it is the average TAS on four engines, long range cruise.

Q

Deliberate Course Deviations

A

Temporary deviations from track are sometimes necessary due to weather; however, such deviations may cause
navigation errors. The following procedures are recommended:
* Utilize the OFFSET function on the ACT RTE 1/_ page.
* Program the cleared distance from track into the CNI as the XTK limit to generate an advisory if
the distance is exceeded.
* Use the Heading mode to maneuver the aircraft.
* Use the NAV-RADAR and/or digital map display with flight plan overlay to maintain situational
awareness of relation to original track, restricted airspace and terrain.
* Steer back to original track using the heading mode and the navigation capture mode.
* Report abeam of original waypoint or actual crossing location of significant longitude/latitude values as
required.
