Maneuvers Flashcards
Teardrop
2NM from landing point, flight idle turn 30* with 45* AOB
Flaps and gear on speed with corrected heading
Abeam and 150 kias 45* AOB inbound
Random High
4500’ AGL, 140 kias, gear down, flaps 100%
130-140k kias, flight idle, 20-25* AOB
1100’ loss per 90* of turn
4500/3400/2300/1200
1/2NM final, airspeed as required
Remain within 1NM of airfield, use pitch to control airspeed
M/E Takeoff Brief
“This will be a Adjusted Max Effort takeoff, we weigh 120,000 lbs, AMFLMETO is 2,450’, Speeds are 94, 94,111. I will take the yoke at 80 kts, acceleration
time check is 80 kts and 14 sec.”
Straight-In
Calculate slowdown distance
240kias, flight idle
Approach speed and 3* glideslope by 1/2 NM
M/E Landing
Slow past the 180, standard 3* glideslope
Aimpoint: slightly above the leading edge of the box
Approx 200’ decelerate to arrive at 50”, threshold speed simultaneously
20’ flare, pitch 1-2* above the horizon
Throttles to flight idle, lower the nosewheel
Immediately transition through ground idle to revers, apply firm brakes
Adjusted M/E Takeoff
Hold brakes, set power to T/O
“Power set” within 200 HP
PF releases brakes, PM hacks the clock
Take the yoke at acceleration speed
PF rotates nose up 5*/s to initial capture of target pitch altitude
Gear is automatically retracted by PM
Adjust pitch to maintain Vobs
Reduce pitch to accelerate to FUSS, execute climb out
Downwind
Max 1000’ AGL, 200 kias
3/4NM past approach end, 45* AOB inbound
Level turn until approach speed, flaps and gear on speed
Rollout no closer than 1/4NM and 150 AGL
3 Types of Tactical Arrivals
random low
random high
High IR cooled
5 Types of Random Low Approaches
Straight-in
Abeam
Teardrop
Spiral
Downwind
-Conducted from 300 agl or higher
Abeam
Crossing runway, flight idle
Delay 5s, 60* AOB downwind
Flaps and gear on speed
Don’t turn final until gear handle selected down
Flaps to 100%, descend on 3* GS, power as required
M/E Takeoff Considerations
Watch out for aggressive rotation and maneuvering more than 20*AOB < 120 KIAS
100-140k lbs: Begin flap retraction at 135 kias to Vobs + 45 kias
> 140k lbs: 10 increments Vobs+25 to Vobs+45 kias
IR Cooled Approach
Choose BOD point, distance sufficient for turns/slowdown/configuration
Enter point into CNI (custom data)
Put a “C” altitude constraint at desired altitude
Place cursor target at BOD point, entire desired altitude
Entire desired angle in descent page
Ensure Per cruise altitude is set to current altitude
TOD is now accurately calculated
IE-cooled: descent angle table: TPG or ANTTP
Perpendicular Crossing - allows climb to maintain 210kias with max continuous power set
Begin climb at FPA-1, place CDM above FPA
Begin the pushover and/or unloaded roll to 45-60AOB, once the top of the terrain is below the glare shield and visible in the kick windows. This will occur just prior to the aircraft crossing the apex of the terrain.

Clear and Correcting
Immediate power and climb to avoid terrain
High Speed Zoom Climb
set t/o power, 25-40* nose up, 2-3g’s, begin roll to 60 at 200 kts, relax back pressure, little bottom rudder (2000-2500 ft gained, 170 kts for training)
