Pelvis and LE Muscle Energy Flashcards
What are characteristics of a superior shear?
ASIS superior PSIS superior --- will be way off Pubic ramus superior pelvic pain ipsilateral SI joint and pubes etiology - fall to the buttocks same side -ppl have more pain sitting and sleeping
What are characteristics of anterior innominate rotation?
ASIS inferior
PSIS superior
ipsilateral hamstring tightess/spasm and sciatica
tissue changes at ILA of sacrum same side as well as iliolumbar ligament tenderness
What are 5 anterior ilium rotators?
- tensor fascia latae muscle
- quadratus lumborum
- iliocostal muscles
- internal abdominal oblique muslces
- LD muscle
Tensor fascia latae origin and insertion
O: anterior lateral iliac crest
I: anterolateral tibia below the plateau
Quads origin and insertion
O: rectus femoris - AIIS
I: tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
What are characteristics of a posterior innominate rotation?
ASIS superior
PSIS inferior
inguinal/groin pain, medial knee (attachments of long muscles of thigh)
What are 5 posterior rotators?
- gluteus maximus
- semitendinosis
- semimembranosus
- piriformis (weak)
- external abdominal oblique
O and I of hamstrings
O: ischial tuberosity
I: lateral condyle tibia, lateral aspect head of fibula
What happens when fibular head is anterior?
dorsiflexion
What happens when fibular head is posterior?
plantarflexion
How do you treat an ankle inversion sprain?
Grab a hold of the foot and put it in dorsiflexion and evert it and unload side of injury and do a quick tug to level teh base back out.
