Pelvic Limb Nerves Flashcards
lumbar intumescence
pelvic limb and viscera innervation
thoracic spinal nerves dorsal branches
medial br motor for epaxial and sensory for dorsum
lat cutanteous br sensory
thoracic spinal nerve ventral branches
larger than dorsal, vimportant because motor to respiratory mm!
innervate sensory for skin in thoracic region
motor for external and internal intercostal, transverse thoracis and rectus abdominius mm
intercostal n 9-12
innervate abdominal wall AND intercostal space
Lumbosacral plexus
nerves start mixing/ communicating at L3
made of ventral branches from lumbar and sacral spinal nn
innervates pelvic limb
genitofemoral n
very deep
motor to cremaster m (only in male)
sensory from skin in inguinal region and proximal medial thigh
obturator n
innervates adductors of pelvic limb (external obturator, pectineus, gracilis, adductor mm)
motor ONLY
saphenous n
sensory to skin of MEDIAL femoral, gluteal, tibial and pes regions
(does not innervate femoral triangle)
femoral n
motor to iliopsoas, quadriceps femoris (!) and sartorius mm
gives rise to saphenous n
caudal gluteal n
motor to superficial gluteal
lumbosacral trunk
gives rise to caudal gluteal, cranial gluteal, and sciatic nn
cranial gluteal n
motor to middle gluteal, piriformis, deep gluteal and tensor fasciae latae mm
sciatic n
within pelvis, motor to internal obturator, gemelli, and quadratis femoris
caudal to hip, motor to biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus
sensory to lateral and caudal crus
common fibular n
innervate flexors of tarsal joint and extensors of the digit
deep fibular: motor to cranial tibial, long digital extensor, fibularis longus
superficial fibular: motor to lateral digital extensor and fibularis brevis
sensory to dorsal pes
tibial n
innervate extensors of tarsal joint and flexors of digits
motor to gastrocnemius, SDF, DDF, popliteus
sensory to plantar pes
