What is peer review?
When the people who work around you and specialists in the same field as your research scrutinize your research to see if it is valid and reliable enough for publication
Why is peer review important?
Guards against fraud
Maintains validity and reliability of research
To suggest/ recommend possible amendments.
To allocate research funding
All written work is scrutinized for the quality and relevance of research
Process of peer review
Peer reviewer scrutinizes research to see if anything can be edited
Editor sends research to expert to see if it good enough for publication
If good then more recommendations are suggested, the work if published or completely rejected.
Blind review and double blind review
The peer does not know whose work they are reviewing to avoid biased opinions. Double blind is completely anonymous both the peer and the person whose research is being checked
