Step pneumo, staph aureus, Hib Tachypnea, localized chest pain, rales, fever
Pneumonia
Step pneumo & E coli most common
Fever, chills, leukocytosis
Vanco & ceftriaxone until know pathogen
Bacteremia
E coli most common Fever, hypothermia, poor feeding, irritability, vomiting
UTI
Fever, ST, Malaise, poster chain LAN Ebstein-Bar Avoid contact sports d/t HSM
Mono
ST, rhinorrhea, malaise, tenacious gray membrane. Horse serum antitoxin and PCN or erythro
Diptheria
Cervical LAN, tonsillar exudates, ST, beefy red uvula. PCN, azithro, clinda, cephalexin
Strep Throat
Strep pneumo, n meningitides & Hib Most common in 1st month. Tense, bulging anterior fontanelle. Neck stiffness. Poor moro reflex. Irritabilty, lethargy
Meningitis
Whooping, (seal bark), coughing so hard could vomit. Macrolide (axithro/erythro)
Pertussis
Parotid tenderness. Facial edema. Fever, malaise. Orchitis. Can have CNS involvement and hearing loss
