what are the signs of resp distress at birth?
tachypnea, cyanosis, retractions, nasal flaring, grunting, rales, and in severe cases, a barrel-shaped chest.
Grunting may indicate resp distress syndrome.
acrocyanosis, what is it? what is normal?
peripheral cyanosis involving just the extremities and it is normal during the first 24 hours

are pauses normal in RR for a newborn?
the pauses in breathing lasting 5-10 seconds without other changes, followed by rapid resps for 10-15 seconds sometimes happens for the first few days.
obstructive sleep apnea and children
an adenoidectomy will be the first tx for OSP in children because thats usually the issue.

what are Mongolian spots?
common in infants of African American, native, and Mediterranean descent. They will disappear spontaneously during the early years and dont mean anything.
Mongolian blue spots are flat bluish- to bluish-gray skin markings commonly appearing at birth or shortly thereafter. They appear commonly at the base of the spine, on the buttocks and back and also can appear on the shoulders. Mongolian spots are benign and are not associated with any conditions or illnesses.
what are stork bites?
A stork bite, also known as a salmon patch, is a cluster of pink to reddish-purple blood vessels (capillaries) that appear on a newborn’s skin on the back of their head or neck. A stork bite is a type of birthmark. Stork bites are harmless and may fade over time.
