What are 3 common paediatric fractures?
Pulled elbow ~ proximal radial head subluxation

Salter-Harris
What is a Salter Harris fracture?
Involves the physis (growth plate)
S-1-straight: straight across metaphysics
A-2: above: transverse metaphysics & triangular portion
L-3: low: transverse through physis & into epiphysis, may go into joint
T4: Through: through metaphysis, physis, epiphysis & into joint
ER5: crush: crush injury has erased the physis
S3,4,5 to with surgery
What is a green stick fracture
Side that received the force fractures but the side of compression does not
In children bc of their flexible bones
Usually happens to radius, ulna, fibula
What is a pulled elbow?
Proximal radial head subluxation
Pulling on the pronates outstretched arm
What injuries are most common in child abuse?
Rib fractures
Fractures in hands/feet but they cannot walk yet
Radial head subluxation
Mid shaft spiral humeral fractures
