What is a Salter Harris fracture?

A

Involves the physis (growth plate)

S-1-straight: straight across metaphysics
A-2: above: transverse metaphysics & triangular portion
L-3: low: transverse through physis & into epiphysis, may go into joint
T4: Through: through metaphysis, physis, epiphysis & into joint
ER5: crush: crush injury has erased the physis

S3,4,5 to with surgery

What is a green stick fracture

A

Side that received the force fractures but the side of compression does not

In children bc of their flexible bones

Usually happens to radius, ulna, fibula
