A

A Christian teaching first put forward by St. Thomas Aquinas. It proposes that wars can be considered morally right and justified if they abide by certain conditions.

Active pacifists make an effort to promote peace and campaign against war. Those who object to fight under government requirements are known as conscientious objectors and have been punished in the past but in more recent years their beliefs have been respected.
