Pe Words Flashcards
Aerobic
Aerobic exercise is a physical activity that uses your body’s large muscle groups, is rhythmic and repetitive. It increases your heart rate and how much oxygen your body uses.
Anaerobic
exercise that consists of short , high-intensity movement
Sets
How many of one thing you do
Reps
How many of one thing you do without taking a break
Muscular endurance
Muscle groups to undergo repeated contractions
Cardiovascular endurance
Ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to the working muscles
Flexibility
A range of movements possible at the joint
Muscular strength
The ability of a muscle to apply force and overcome resistance
Speed
How far so you can cover a distance from A to point B
Reaction time
The time taken to respond to a stimulus
Power
Speed x strength
Coordination
Use different parts of the body together smoothly and effectively
Balance
Ability to maintain a centre of your mass over base of support
Agility
The ability to move or change direction quickly whilst remaining in control
Ice bath benefits
Prevents injury’s/ soreness and helps muscles
Messages
Helps relaxes muscles and prevents injury’s
What is high altitude training?
Altitude training is a form of aerobic (with oxygen) training that happens above sea level. Most athletes have to travel to specific locations to do this because of the heights needed.
You gain more red blood cellls
Skill
Learn behaviour stored into the long term memory, in a variety of ways
What is AO1 AO2 AO3
AO1- point /understanding
AO2-application/ example
AO3-analysis /points
What is extrinsic and intrinsic
Intrinsic motivation comes from an internal desire to accomplish a goal,
extrinsic motivation comes from external rewards and praise.
Abilities or ability
Inherited, stable traits that determine an individual’s potential to learn or acquire a skil
What does basic means
Low level consultation
Like running,throwing,jumping
What does complex mean
Complicated movements
Requires high level of coordination and control
What does open mean
Affected by environment
Usually externally paste
What does closed mean
Not affected by the environment
What is self paced
Controlled by the performer
The performer the execute went to execute the skill
What does externally paced mean?
Controlled by the environment
They include a decision and a reaction
What does gross mean
Large muscle movements
What does fine mean
Smaller muscle groups
What does short-term memory mean?
the ability to store a small amount of information in the mind
What does long-term memory mean?
has a potentially endless capacity and can hold information for a long time
What are the 4 stages of information processing
Input
Decision-making making
Output
Feedback
What does input mean?
Taking in the information
Filtering unwanted information
Selective attention
See,here,feel
What does decision-making mean?
We performer select an appropriate responseM
Skill/movement
What does output mean?
The decision is chosen and impulse from the brain are sent to the appropriate muscle group
What does feedback mean?
Information is received via self(intrinsic) and others (extrinsic) regarding the success of the school
What is intrinsic and extrinsic
Intrinsic is received from yourself
Extrinsic is received from others
Outcome goal
Focus on end result
Comparisons with other performers
Wha is performance goal
Personal standards achieved
Compare from the last performance
No comparison with other performers
What is static balance
our ability to hold our body in a specific position and posture
What is dynamic balance
ability to remain standing and stable while performing movements or actions that require displacing or moving oneself
Tibai volume
It is the amount you breathe in or out with each breath
Residual volume
Is the amount of air left in your lungs after you’ve breathed out as much as possible
Vital capacity
It is the most air you could possibly breathe in or out in one breath
What is stamina
The mental and physical ability to sustain an activity for a long period of time keeping a good speed
