Q

What is Health Related Fitness?

A

Directly associated with good body fitness. It is also theoretically defined as a multidimensional construct containing the components of cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body composition.

Q

What is Skill Related Fitness?

A

Directly associated with skill performance. It consists of fitness components that are important to success in skillful activities and athletic events, and may not be as crucial to improved health.

13
Q

Body Composition

A

It pertains to the relative amounts of muscle, fat, bone, and other vital parts of the body. The ideal percentage for men is between 12-16% and for women 15-20%. People with a high percentage of body fat are more likely to be ill resulting in a higher death rate among them.

16
Q

Muscular Strength

A

Refers to the ability of the muscle to exert force.

17
Q

Muscular Endurance

A

It relates to the muscle ability to continue to perform without fatigue.

18
Q

Organic Vigor

A

Refers to the soundness of the heart and lungs which contribute to the ability to resist disease.

19
Q

Agility

A

It pertains to the ability to rapidly change in the position of the entire body in space with speed and accuracy.

20
Q

Balance

A

Pertains to the maintenance of equilibrium while stationary or moving.

21
Q

Coordination

A

Refers to the ability to use the sense like sight and hearing, together with other parts in performing motor tasks smoothly and accurately.

22
Q

Power

A

Refers to the rate at which one can perform work. It is considered to be a combination of strength and speed.

23
Q

Speed

A

Refers to the ability to perform a movement within a short period of time.

24
Q

Reaction Time

A

Refers to the time elapsed between stimulation and beginning of the reaction to it.

25
Q

Cardiovascular endurance

A

A health-related component of physical fitness that relates to ability of the circulatory and respiratory to apply oxygen during sustained physical activity.

26
Q

Cardiovascular Fitness

A

Also refers to Cardiovascular Endurance, aerobic fitness and cardio respiratory fitness. Commonly administered field tests include the mile run, the 12-minute run, the 1 mile walk, and treadmill test.

27
Q

Circuit Training

A

Allows you to work on both cardio and strength training simultaneously, which is the perfect combo to torch body fat and build muscle at the same time.

28
Q

Cardiovascular endurance (2)

A

Refers to how efficiently your heart (“cardio”) and lungs (“respiratory”) work together to supply your body with oxygenated blood over an extended period.

29
Q

Cardio Exercises

A

Any exercises that raises your heart rate.

30
Q

A stronger cardiovascular system means?

A

More capillaries delivering more oxygen to cells in your muscles. This enables your cells to burn more fat during both exercise and inactivity.

31
Q

Circuit Training (2)

A

A typical circuit training workout includes about 8-10 exercise stations. After completing a station, instead of resting, you move quickly to the next station.

32
Q

Core Exercise

A

Exercises that focus on either the stabilization, endurance or strengthening of the core muscles. Core exercises train these muscles to work together properly to maintain proper balance, agility, posture and movement to help the body move efficiently as well as preventing injury.

33
Q

Major muscles

A
  1. Pelvic floor muscles
  2. Transverses abdominis
  3. Multifidus
  4. Obliques
  5. Rectus abdominis
  6. Erector Spinae
  7. Diaphragm
34
Q

Minor core muscles

A
  1. Latissimus dorsi
  2. Gluteus maximus
  3. Trapezius
