1 Adjust to sexually maturing bodies and feelings
- Develop and apply abstract thinking skills
- Develop and apply new perspective on human relationships
- Develop and apply new coping skills in areas such as decision making, problem
solving, and conflict resolution
- Identify meaningful moral standards, values, and belief systems
- Understand and convey more complex emotional experiences
- Form friendships that are mutually close and supportive
- Establish key aspects of identity
- Meet the demands of increasingly mature roles and responsibilities
- Renegotiate relationships with adults in parenting roles
Adolescents look less like children and more like physically and sexually mature adults.
Learn to manage sexual feelings and engage in healthy sexual behavior
Adjust to sexually maturing bodies and feelings
You also experienced sudden increase in your ability to think.
You are now capable to think critically and logically.
• Able to visualize their world in a new level of awareness.
Develop and apply abstract thinking skills
• You start to look at relationships in different perspectives which can help you learn how to resolve conflicts in relationships.
• Learning to “put yourself into another person’s shoes”

As adolescents, you are given the freedom to choose your circle of friends. You now start to develop peer relationships and build connections in each other’s life.
Form friendships that are mutually close and supportive
You need to understand what it really means to be male or female. You need to pass the crisis between identity and role confusion.

Adolescents start to gain autonomy from parents. You need to communicate with your parents with regard to your need for a degree of independence as you mature
Renegotiate relationships with adults in parenting roles
Adolescents as early as possible should be taught the value of respect and responsibility
Respect and Responsibility
Successful people know and care about what’s going on in their community and around the world.
Community Involvement
Adolescents must make an effort to make their lives successful
