Boredom
Adolescents who fight with a lot of emotional ache are especially exposed to alcohol and drug abuse. They use these substances just like many adults as a way to self-medicate.
Self-medication
Adolescents like to affirm their promising maturity and experiment the limits with their parents. Those with nagging, overprotective, or strict parents often fight back in a passive-aggressive manner.
Rebellion
Most teens do not know what is good and bad for them. It is not because they are not intelligent, but because they simply do not have adequate information or experience.
Ignorance
Getting drunk or high with friends sounds fun at the moment. The stupidity, indistinct words, stumbling, and weird behavior can be very enjoyable and make great stories the next day.
