- how much, how often, consistency, colour and contents (mucus blood, bile if vomiting

GI
- weight loss: how much, intentional or not, appetite changes
work down the body: dysphagia, indigestion/heartburn. abdo pain, bowel habits changes, blood or mucus in the stools

peptic ulcer haemorrhage
oesophageal varices
mallory-weis tear
haemorrhage gastritis/oesohpagitis
what are the clues/symptoms for the following condition
peptic ulcer haemorrhage
previous gastritis symptoms
Epigastric discomfort or pain
Nausea and vomiting
Dyspepsia
Bleeding causing haematemesis, “coffee ground” vomiting and melaena
Iron deficiency anaemia (due to constant bleeding)

history of liver disease/alcoholism
may be encephalopathic or alcohol withdrawal
