PBS CH.7 Flashcards
partial-interval recording
a data measurement system in which a positive occurrence is recorded if the behavior occurs at any time during the interval
percentage
a data conversion method for restricted event data
allows for varying number of opportunities to respond across the measurement period
stereotypic behaviors
a repetitive behavior, such as hand-flapping, rocking, twirling objects, or monotone humming, that appears to be for the purpose of self-stimulation
replacement behaviors
a desired behavior that is designed to be part of an intervention plan as a substitute for an unacceptable behavior
is established through teaching, prompting, and reinforcement
latency recording
a data system used to measure the time elapsed between when a stimulus is given and when the response for that stimulus begins
interval recording
data collection system in which the presence or absence of a target behavior is documented during brief, regular intervals
restricted events
a behavior that occurs in response to a specific stimulus
permanent products
a concrete, tangible result or outcome of a behavior
discrete behaviors
behaviors that have a clearly observable beginning and end
unrestricted events
a behavior that can occur at any time rather than only in the presence of a particular stimulus
whole-interval recording
a type of interval recording in which only an occurrence of the targeted behavior that lasts throughout the interval is counted as an occurrence
operational definition
an unambiguous, objective definition of a targeted behavior
often includes examples and non examples of the behavior
trends
three consecutive data points in the same direction
duration recording
a system for measuring the length of time for which a behavior is exhibited
this method is appropriate for behaviors that have a clearly identifiable beginning and end and that occur over a long period
scale break
two short slash marks across the y-axis of a graph that indicate the omission of increments on the scale
