PBL 1 Flashcards
What is systolic blood pressure?
Pressure of blood during heart contraction
What is diastolic blood pressure?
Pressure of blood after one contraction but before the next contraction
Where do you find beta 1 adrenergic receptors?
Heart, kidney and fat cells
What’s the function of beta 1 receptors?
To increase cardiac output and renin secretion from kidneys
Where do you find beta 2 receptors?
On bronchioles and skeletal muscle arteries
What’s the function of beta 2 receptors?
Smooth muscle relaxation to decrease bp
Where would you find beta 3 receptors?
Gall bladder, urinary bladder and brown adipose tissue
What’s the function in beta 3 receptors?
Lipolysis and thermogenesis in brown fat
Relaxation of bladder
Preventing urination
Where would you find alpha 1 cells?
On vascular smooth muscle
What’s the function of alpha 1 receptors?
Activating smooth muscle contraction
Where do you find alpha 2 receptors?
On the brain and peripheral nervous system
What is prevalence?
The proportion of that population that has a disease at any point in time
What is incidence?
The rate of occurrence of a new disease during a period of time
