  • Aircraft established in the pattern

Do not break from initial under the following conditions:

A
  • Aircraft straight in between 5 and 2 miles
  • Aircraft between “Report high key” and low key
  • Aircraft orbiting at high key
  • When directed to carry straight through
  • When unable to maintain spacing with aircraft already established in high, closed, or low-closed downwind

Do not request/pull up for a closed traffic pattern:

A
  • With an aircraft betweem “Report High Key” and Low Key
  • With an aircraft orbiting at High Key
  • With a straight-in between 5 and 2 miles
  • With and aircraft on initial that has not began the break
  • When the previous traffic on closed downwind is a conflict and/or the requesting traffic is not abeam/past the RSU

A

Location - Aligned with runway centerline,

A/S - 200 kts

Pwr - 50% + 1% per 1,000’ MSL

Pitch - level

Alt - 1000’ AGL

Vis Ref - 1/2 ground 1/2 sky

Radio Call - “(Call Sign), Initial, (fuel), (last pattern), (Request (High Key/ Break to Low Key))”

BREAK parameters

A

Location- First 3000 ft of runway

Bank - 60deg

A/S - Slow from 200 kts to 120-150kts

Pwr - As req (approx 10% or red handle)

Vis Ref - drag TAS antenna across horizon (slight pitch up)

Radio Call: “In the break” or “Break point straight through” if unable
