Assesses if there is an immediate threat to life, determines in it is trauma or non trauma.
Gives basic care advice for immediately life threatening situations
Core module 1
Assesses non life threatening situations. Uses large database of gender and age specific pathways and gives extensive care advice.

List the reasons you may use “Triage not possible”
Contact is about a dead or dying person
Contact is a child and unable to answer questions
Contact is a remote observer
Person is on fire
Define a complex call
A call which isn’t straightforward where the call handler is working at or beyond the limits of their knowledge and experience
List the early exit options
The phone line went dead The crew arrived before the call could be completed The caller terminated the call I terminated the call Triage not possible Transfer to clinician Caller wants no further advice
Transfer to clinician options
Caller refused the disposition
Caller unable to prioritise the main symptom
Difficulty obtaining adequate information (more than 2 Not Sure responses)
Medication or medical procedure enquiry
Declare previous medical history
How does the system treat Not Sure responses?
Generally assumes to be a No, however sometimes a yes, depending of the balance of risk
