Pathway Of Light Flashcards
Where does the light need to be focused?
-on the retina for optimal vision
Where is light bent?
-on the cornea, lens, aqueous+vitreous humor
How far can the average healthy eye see?
20 feet
What is accommodation?
-when the lens changes shape to focus on objects closer than 20ft away
What is emmitrophia?
-eye focuses on images correctly on the retina
What is myopia?
-it is nearsightedness, distant images are blurry
-light lands before retina, causing eyeball to be too long
What is hyperophia?
-farsightedness, close images are blurry
-light lands behind the retina, resulting in too short of an eye/ “lazy lens”
What is astigmatism?
-images are blurry
-light focuses on lens, not the retina due to unequal curves on lens/cornea
What is glaucoma?
-can cause blindness through increasing pressure of the eye
