What is circumstantiality?
Inability to answer question without giving excessive, unnecessary detail

Tangentiality is where a person wanders from a topic without returning
In circumstantiality, person eventually return to topic

One idea runs off onto another - discernible links between them

What is perseveration?
Repetition of ideas or words despite attempt to change topic
What is echolalia?
Repetition of someone else’s speech including question that was asked
What is Othello’s syndrome?
Pathalogical jealousy - convinced partner is cheating on them
How does post concussion syndrome present?
Headache
Fatigue
Anxiety/depression
Dizziness
After even mild trauma

Treatment can be given against patient wishes

What is section 4 of the mental health act used for?
- 72 hr assessment
- Emergency when section 2 lead to delay
- GP and approved mental health professional or nearest relative
- Often changed to section 2
What is section 5(2) of the mental health act used for?
Detain patient in hospital voluntarily for 72 hours by doctor
