What is the passive voice ?

A

The passive voice is used to say what is done to someone or something

Active Voice

Il lave la pomme (He washes the apple)

Passive Voice

La pomme est lavée (The apple is washed).

How is the passive voice formed ?

A

The passive voice is formed by conjugating être in the required tense and combining that with the verb’s past participle.

The ending of the past participle must agree in gender and number with the noun.

Les lits sont faits. (The beds are made)
