- talk about main events (imparfait is for background information
The two components of passé composé
- the auxiliary verb ie. avoir or être conjugated in the present tense
- the past participle of the verb you want to conjugate
avoir is the most common

the past participle must agree with the sing/pluriel and masc/fem
for a mixed group always use the masculine form

How to form a question with passé composé (être)
Use inversion

sont-ils partis? (did they leave)
