Bobbin
Holds the lower thread
(a little roll of thread)
Bobbin Case
Holds the Bobbin.
(a little compartment on the body of the sewing machine)
Feed Dog
Moves fabric under the needle
( a movable metal plate with teeth that moves fabric through the sewing machine)
Foot pedal
Gives power to the machine
Hand wheel
Manually controls the machine. Only turn towards you.
Needle
Takes thread through the fabric. (kind of stabs the cloth)
Power switch
Turns machine on/off. Don’t leave on when machine is unattended.
(The switch can be located on the back or the right side of the body.)
Presser foot
Holds fabric in place
Presser Foot Lifter
Raises and lowers the presser foot. ALWAYS have the foot DOWN when sewing.
REVERSE CONTROL
located on the side of a showing machine. Has an R on it. Hold while pushing down on the pedal to sew backwards.
Seam Guides
Measure distance from needle while sewing
TAKE-UP LEVER
Pulls thread off the spool
Thread Cutter
Cuts thread
THROAT PLATE
(near where the spool is held)
Covers area under the needle
