What is the House of Commons?
Known as the lower house, made up of democratically elected members (MPs) who represent constituencies.
What is the House of Lords?
Made up over 800 members, with majority being life peers. The remaining members consist of hereditary peers and Lords Spiritual.
What is the Crown in Parliament?
Made up of the King and the Government, the Crown gives the ‘Royal Assent’ to Bills.
What is the King’s role?
The King is promoted through hereditary position, and formally opens each Parliamentary session by giving the King’s speech. This sets out the Government agenda for the session.
