What does the Broca’s area do
Produces language
What does Wernicke’s area do
Speech comprehension
What does the motor cortex do
Movement
What does the somatosensory cortex do
Receives info from skin senses. Handles perception of touch pain temperature etc
What does the cerebellum do
balance and coordination,
What does the brain stem do
Heartbeat, respiration, arousal, reflexes, blood pressure (things we need to survive)
What does the corpus callosum do
Connects the two hemispheres sending signals between the two
What does the thalamus do
Relay station for sensory info
What does the amygdala do
Emotions
Hippocampus
Long term memory
Hypothalamus
the link between the endocrine and nervous systems. Regulates body temp, emotions involved with hunger and arousal
What does the frontal lobe do
Frontal lobe (Movement and Thinking)
What does the parietal lobe do
Parietal Lobe (Touch, sensation and spatial relationships)
What does the occipital lobe do
Occipital Lobe (Visual Cortex)
