Particle Motion In A Gas Flashcards
1
Q
How do the particles move in a gas?
A
The particles move in constant random motion.
The particles them selves have a very tiny volume
All collisions between particles and the walls of the container are elastic ( no loss of kinetic energy)
The time for each collision is much less than the time between collisions
2
Q
What is the temperature ?
A
The temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of all the particles in a gas
3
Q
What is the relationship ?
A
At a constant volume , as the temperature of the gas increases , the pressure of the gas also increases .
