Particle Model Flashcards
What are the 3 states of matter?
Solids, liquids and gases
What are the proper of a solid?
-Definite volume
-Definite shape
-High density
-not easily squashed/compressed
-dont flow
What are the properties of a liquid?
-definite volume
-match the shape of the container
-medium/high denisty
-not easily squashed
-flow easily
What are the properties of gas?
-no definite volume
-become the same shape as the container
-low density
-easily squashed
-flow easily

Melting
Liquid to solid:
Freezing
Liquid to gas:
boiling
gas to liquid:
condensing
Solid to gas:
Subliming
material
all materials are made up of tiny particles
what do particles in a solid look like?
they are held tightly together and vibrate
what do particles in a liquid look like?
The particles are close together buth they can move
What do gas particles look like?
The particles are far apart and whizz about a lot
