Point - One way US citizens participate in politics is the having the right to vote in elections
Explain - People in the US have many opportunities to vote for someone to be elected to a position of power in US society. There could be as many as 30 different roles US citizens are able to vote for such as a local sheriff or the state senator (opportunities, different roles)
Example - For example, 50% of voters voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 Presidential Election

Explain - As a democracy the US frequently sees large numbers of protesters on the streets as people express their opinion on matters that are important to them. In recent years there have been major protests about LGBT+ rights and about women’s access to abortion. The US has also seen many large demonstrations organised by the Black Lives Matters movement against structural racism in the USA (what is protest, recent protests)

Explain - This group are more likely to vote because they understand how important it is. This may be because this generation grew up after world war 2 which was known as a fight for democracy and freedom so voting will be very important to them

Example - For example, the turnout rates for 60+ in 2020 was at its peak with nearly 80% whereas in 2020 for Americans aged 18-29 the turnout rates was around 50%
