What are the Ten Commandments called?
The Decalogue.
How any commandments did God give on Mount Sinai?
Ten commandments.
What do the first four commandments teach?
Our duty to God.
What do the last six commandments teach?
Our duty to our fellow men.
What is the sum of the Ten Commandments?
To love God with all my heart, and my neighbour as myself.
Who is your neighbour?
Everybody is my neighbour.
Is God pleased with those who love and obey Him?
Yes. God says, “I love them that love me.”
Is God pleased with those who do not love and obey Him?
No. “God is angry with the wicked every day.”
What is the first commandment?
The first commandment is, “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.”
What does the first commandment teach us?
To worship the One True God, and Him alone.
What is the second commandment?
The second commandment is “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”
What does the second commandment teach us?
To worship God only as he commands, and not to worship God by using statues or pictures.
What is the third commandment?
The third commandment is, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.”
What does the third commandment teach us?
To treat God’s name, word, and works with reverence.
What is the fourth commandment?
The fourth commandment is, “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy Go; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor they son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.”
