Q

Who sets a code of conduct and who is expected to follow them?

A

A professional association, such as IEEE, ACM and BCS, is
entitled to set entrance requirements that govern minimum levels
of experience and qualifications for new members.
• However, in return for membership of a professional association,
the individual accepts a duty to meet certain standards of
conduct and behaviour.
The standards of conduct and behaviour expected by the association
are described within a code of conduct that also sets out a number
of the association’s principles.

Q

What is the difference between a Code of Ethics and a Code of Conduct? According to whistleblowersecurity.com

A

“A Code of Ethics governs decision-making, and a Code of Conduct
govern actions. They both represent two common ways that
companies self-regulate. They are often associated with large
companies, and provide direction to employees and establish a
public image of good behavior, both of which benefit businesses of
any size.”
