Part 12: Summary of LL Innervation Flashcards
Describe the cutaneous innervation of the buttocks
Fibres involve subcostal, iliohypogastric nerve, posterior rami of 1st 3 lumbar nerves and 1st 3 sacral nerves
Describe the cutaneous innervation of the thigh
Anterior thigh:
Superiorly - subcostal, femoral branch genitofemoral, ilioinguinal.
Then lateral, intermediate and medial femoral cutaneous nerves with small contribution medially from obturator
Describe the cutaneous innervation of the leg
Posterior femoral cutaneous extends midway down. Lateral cutaneous of calf, infrapatellar and then medially saphenous. Laterally superficial peroneal and sural.
Describe the cutaneous innervation of the foot
Tibial nerve divides into medial and lateral to supply sole, superficial peroneal extends over front of dorsum of foot with deep peroneal suppling 1st cleft
What nerve innervates the anterior compartment of thigh?
Femoral nerve
What nerve innervates the adductor compartment of thigh?
Obturator
What nerve innervates the posterior compartment of thigh?
Tibial part of sciatic apart from short head of biceps which is innervated by common peroneal part.
What nerve innervates the gluteal region?
Inferior gluteal nerve - glut maximus
Superior gluteal nerve - medius and minimus and TFL
Short lateral rotators have their own nerves
What nerve innervates the flexor compartment of leg?
Tibial nerve
What nerve innervates the anterior compartment of leg?
Deep peroneal with superficial peroneal supplying peroneal compartment
Describe the sympathetic innervation of the lower limb
Grey ramus communicans joins each nerveof lumbar and sacral plexus. Preganglionic fibres come from cell bodies in lateral horn of T11-L2
