What is a main motion?
Motion used to present new business.
What is a secondary motion?
Motion used to help the assembly to decide what to do with the motion.
What are three types of secondary motions?
Subsidiary, privileged, and incidental.
What is a subsidiary motion?
A motion used to help the assembly to dispose of a main motion.
Name four subsidiary motions.
Postpone indefinitely, amend, refer to a committee, and lay on table.
What is a privileged motion?
A motion that relates to special matters of immediate concern. They do not pertain to a main motion.
Name four examples of privileged motions.
Call for order of the day, Recess, adjourn, and to fix the time at which to adjourn.
What is an incidental motion?
A motion that deals with questions of procedure arising from pending business, but do not affect pending business. This motion is the highest priority.
Name four types of incidental motions.
Point of order, appeal, suspend the rules, and division of the assembly.
What do officers do?
They take care of responsibilities within the organization.
What is the presidents role?
He presides at meetings and performs administrative duties as assigned by the bylaws.
What is the Vice Presidents role?
He presides in the absence of the president or if the president has stepped down to debate and takes over vacancies in the office of president.
Who keeps all records of the organization?
Secretary
Who notifies members of meetings?
Secretary
