Q

What is the preganglionic pathway of the parasympathetic nucleus of the vagus nerve?

A

Vagus nerve goes through the neck and is closely related with the sympathetic trunk. Then it combines with the sympathetic trunk to make the vagosympathetic trunk. Once in the thorax, the vagus separates from vagosympathetic trunk and runs on right and left sides. Then different vagal branches such as the cardiac nerves innervate the heart and lungs.

Q

Recurrent laryngeal nerves innervate cervical organs such as?

A

Esophagus, trachea, and larynx
***Also carries GSE & GSA fibers and is the main motor nerve for the skeletal muscles of the larynx
