They transfer between hosts during their larval stage otherwise they’ll be too big to be transmitted as adults
Larva are often taken in with food
Tapeworm
They were used as slimming agents during victorians
Ingested by eating uncooked meat. Beef and pork tapeworms
Intermediate hosts will suffer worse symptoms than definitive host
Round worms
Very common in the uk and in children under 2
Eggs are infested by humans
Larvae hatches in small intestine and migrate to large intestine for the adult to develop
Females will lay their eggs in perianal area causing irritation around anus and sometimes vagina

Worms may be visible
Sellotape slide viewed under microscope
Treatment: mebendazole

Weight loss
Proglotids and eggs a can be detected in poo
Beef and pork should be cooked thoroughly
Schistosomiasis
Humans are affected during larval stage
The cercariae can penetrate the skin
