Parallelpiped (Direct Focal/ Broad Beam) Flashcards
What is Parallelpiped?
The process of scanning the entire eye area providing an overview that will prompt further investigation with more elective forms of illumination.
Broad view of anterior and posterior corneal surfaces
Used to determine the fit of a contact after Fx is instilled
Most used direct illumination technique
What are you looking at with Parallelpiped?
More specific layers of tissue
Corneal scarring, infiltrates and corneal staining
Describe the beam in Parallelpiped:
45-50 deg angle
width 1-3 mm
Height usually Max
Low-mod illumination
Low-med magnification

Talking points on Parallelpiped:
Most commonly used direct illumination
Permits assessment of the location, width and height of any object within the cornea or adjacent structures.
Used to determinte the fit of a contact lens
used to observe tear film and cornea
