General Illuminations used in follow up Flashcards
Diffuse Illumination: Talking points
Diffuse illumination can reveal general fitting qualities of rigid and soft lenses.
Lens position and movement,
surface and wetting ability of the lens, as well as defects in the lens.
Break Up Time Test (BUT)
Sclerotic Scatter Talking Points:
Detect the disturbance of transparency of the cornea or contact lens.
Gross corneal edema can be observed using sclerotic scatter, frequently can be seen with the naked eye.
One can also observe position, movement, and bubbles under a lens and edge lift in a soft lens.
Indirect Illumination Talking Points:
Primarily for the detection and evaluation of neovascularization.
Light source must be positioned just adjacent to the limbus on the sclera.
Retroillumination Talking Points:
Observe curling edges in a soft lens, bevels and edge quality in rigid lenses and also allows vascularization to be seen.
formed by light reflecting from behind, surface deposits, scars or anything else that is raised shows well using this lighting.
