Introduction paragraph
-A hook
-General statement about your topic
-Thesis (sentence stating your opinion and 3 points you will further discuss to back up your opinion.
Topic sentences
-Sentence that starts off your paragraph
-Controls and limits the ideas you will be expressing in your paragraph
-focuses on the main idea
-the point you are trying to make clear
-every other detail in your paragraph should support this
Supporting details
-A good topic sentence that brings the paragraph together
-The three or more sentences in the middle of the paragraph should provide support for your topic and controlling idea.
-Don’t include facts in your paragraph that have nothing to do with your topic sentence.
Transition words
-To help link your supporting details together and to add flow to your paragraph transition words are used to help flow the sentences together.
Conclusion
-Restate the Thesis
-Summarize Arguments
-Final thoughts
-NEVER introduce new in formation in the conclusion
