A

Jesus told a parable called the good samaritan. A man that walked past was beat up by some robbers. The first guy that walked past him was a priest who didn’t care. Second guy was a levite. And the third guy was a samaritan who helped the man who wss beat up. He showed kindness by taking him to an inn.

What does confession mean and what is it? The sacrament of reconciliation

A

Confession means saying your sins out loud – this helps us face up to our wrongdoings.
The person should have a strong wish not to do the wrong thing again. The priest
listens while the person says ‘Bless me, father, for I have sinned. It is one month since
my last confession. My sins are….’

A

A penance is an act that tries to repair the damage caused by the sin. The priest offers
the person a penance - often in the form of a prayer or an act of charity.

A

Contrition means being truly sorry in your heart for your sins. The person expresses
their regret and sorrow to God by saying ‘O my God, I am very sorry that I have sinned
against you, and by your grace I will not sin again.’

This means being completely forgiven for your sins and freed from them. The priest
stretches out his hand and says ‘I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father
