What happens following American entry into the war?
Governmental powers and regulations are increased and new federal agencies are established to regulate nearly all aspects of American industry, labour and agriculture
What Acts limit Civil Liberties during this time?
The Espionage Act and the Sedition Act
What year was the Espionage Act and what did it do?
1917, prohibits making false statements about the war effort
What year was the Sedition Act and what did it do?
1918, makes a crime out of slandering the war effort
What do these acts do?
Limit freedoms of expression and political freedoms of all Americans
How was America’s entry into WW1 shaped?
Shaped by Wilson as being for reasons such as ‘freedom of democracy’, however whilst the war was ongoing freedoms vital to a functioning democracy were removed at the home front
