work in many jobs such as conductors in trains and trams and working in government buildings, 20000 women worked for the government.

Elise Ingles set up the women’s foreign service in 1914 and she even took out a team of doctors and nurses to Serbia who were not only experiencing a war but also a typhus outbreak.

it could be debated that the vote was given to women out of fear from the government that Pankhurst would decide to restart the violent suffrage campaign as they wanted to prioritise rebuilding the country.

s the majority of women who worked and were under the age of 30 and were working class did not receive the vote, so many women would end up being disappointed after all of that waiting.

It shows that the war did not fully change how women were viewed in society due to the nature of those who were allowed to vote.
