cartridge paper aesthetics, cost + weight, uses
A:Thick white paper with rough textured surface.
C:120-150gsm, opaque, heavy and expensive.
U:Used for pencil and ink drawings, watercolours.
bleed proof paper
A:Coated white, can be textured or smooth.
C:70gsm, coated to stop ink from bleeding through.
U:Used with marker pens for presentation.
grid paper
A:Printed grid lines (squares, isometric).
C:80gsm, lines are usually faint to make pencil easy to see.
U:Used in graphical, scientific and mathematical diagrams.
layout paper
A:Off white, slightly transparent with a smooth finish.
C:40-60gsm, takes pencil and other media well
U:Sketching and tracing
tracing paper
A:Off white, very transparent
C:40-120gsm, less transparent the higher the gsm
U:copying/tracing images
corrugated cardboard
A:Natural brown colour, 3 layers bonded together
C:1000-5000 microns, strong, lightweight, rigid, can be printed on
U:Packaging, boxes, impact protection
duplex board
A:two layers of card bonded together
C:200-500gsm. Stiff, lightweight. Coating protects the card.
U:Packaging boxes, especially for food and drinks.
foil lined board
A:white card with laminated aluminium foil bonded to it
C:200-400gsm, the foil regulates the temperature
U:takeaway containers/lids
foam core board
A:smooth paper surface with foam inner core
C:3-10mm thick, lightweight, and rigid
U:architectural models, point of sale displays
solid white board
A:high quality finish, smooth and brilliant white
C:200-500gsm, stiff, easy to add colour
U:greetings cards, packaging and advertising
