Q

Results and conclusion for princesshay?

A

I agree with the hypothesis as princesshay has

  1. The highest footfall count of the study sites.
  2. The highest EQS score
  3. The most high order stores according to the goad map.

Q

What are the limitations of conclusions for princesshay?

A
  1. EQS results are subjective and weather dependant.
  2. Footfalls are easy to miscount in busy locations.
  3. Goad maps are out of date and buildings are difficult to classify.
  4. Not enough sample sites - should have done every 50m not 100m.
  5. Could have done a questionnaire on people’s views of the success.
  6. Use secondary data as well - newspaper articles or blogs…

Q

What is groyne height measurement?

A

Use a metre rule to measure the height of the beach on the West and east side of the groyne - the vertical distance between the beach and the top of the groyne.

Repeat for all 14 groynes.

A

Throw a ping pong ball into the sea and leave for 2 minutes. Record the distance and direction of movement.

Repeat 3 times and calculate an average.

Q

What is the presentation of results for Dawlish Warren?

A

14 located bar graphs on google earth map of the spit.

If the theory is correct then the beaches should be higher on the west side.

17
Q

What were the results for Dawlish Warren?

A

The 14 bar graphs show - for all graphs the beaches were higher on the west side of the groyne, agreeing with he hypothesis.

18
Q

What were the limitations of the conclusions for Dawlish warren?

A
  1. Inaccuracies of the groyne height measurements - burying the metre rule in the sand or misreading it.
  2. Better sampling - we only did 1 measurement per groyne, so better if we did systematic sampling (every 10m ad calculate an average).
  3. Use secondary data - environment agency website to compare their results.
19
Q

What was the risk assessment for Dawlish Warren?

A

Tide times
Appropriate clothing
Slip risk
Mobile phone - contact staff
