IDEA: Preference theory - women aren’t as comitted to their careers as men and prioritise maternal needs

Hakim argues that women are not the victims of unfair employment practices, but they make rational choices in terms of the type of work they do.
For example, choosing part time work in order to manage childcare and housework because their children come first. A lack of affordble and avaliable childcare isn’t a barrier to women getting jobs because mothers priotirites their children over emploment.
