Q

force and elasticity equpiment

A

-we need a clamp stand, two bosses and two clamps, place a heavy weight on the clamp to stop it falling over
-attach a vertical meter rule and a spring, the top of the spring must be at the 0 point of the rule
-the spring has a wooden splint attached as a pointer horizontally

Q

force and elasticity method

A

-read the position of the pointer on the metre rule, this is the unstretched length on the spring
-next we hang a 1N weight and read the new position on the rule
-continue adding 1N weights to the spring and reading the position of the pointer
-we now need to work out the extension produced by adding each weight
-we do this by subtracting the length of the unstretched spring from the value
-we then plot the extension against the weight

Q

force and elasticity to find weight of unknown material

A

-measure the extension of the spring with the object
-we then read the weight of the object from the graph

Q

acceleration RP equipment

A

-a toy car attached to a piece of string
-the string is looped around a pulley, the other end of the string is attached to 100g mass
-on the desk we draw chalk intervals at equal intervals
-we also need a timer

Q

acceleration RP method

A

-hold the toy car at the starting point, when we are ready we let go of the car
-because there is a resultant force acting through the string the car will accelerate to the end of the desk
-we need to record the time the car passes each distant marker by recording the method on your phone and recording times accurately
-repeat experiment multiple times and decrease the mass on the string

Q

Waves RP equipment

A

-we have a string with one end attached to a vibration generator
-at the other end of the string we have a hanging mass, the mass keeps the string taut
-the vibration generator is attached to a signal generator which can change vibration of string

Q

waves RP method

A

-when we turn on the circuit the string begins to vibrate
-at a certain frequency we get a standing wave due to resonance
-measure the wavelength of the standing wave using a ruler from the bridge to the vibration generator
-use the wave speed equation

Q

waves RP half wave length

A

-at a certain frequency the standing wave changes to half wave lengths
-to calculate wavelength we have to divide the total length by the number of halfwaves and x2
