A

Require minimum effort to answer

Can easily be converted into quantitative data

A

They are more difficult to analyse but allow freedom of expression and greater depth to answers

A

The identical closed questions are being read to participants with the interviewer writing down the answers

What is an unstructured interview ?

A

An informal discussion on a particular topic is involved where interviewers can explore interesting answers by asking follow up questions.

Interviews need considerable training and skill to conduct these types of interviews

What are the disadvantages of interviews ?

A

PARTICIPANT ANSWERS- not suited for people who cannot express their feeling, emotions and opinions, so your never sure if they are telling the truth

ETHICAL ISSUES- participants may not know true purpose

INTERVIEW TRAINING - skill is required to do unstructured interviews due to sensitive topics

INTERVIEW EFFECTS- interviewers May be unconsciously bias.

Also are subject to demand characteristics and social desirability bias
