What is anxiety?
a negative emotional state associated with feelings of nervousness and apprehension
What is stress?
A state of mental strain
What is mindfulness?
Increasing present moment awareness
What is motivation?
External and internal stimuli which arouse and affect our behaviour
What is extrinsic motivation?
any drive that comes from an external source
What is intrinsic motivation?
any drive that comes from within ourselves
what are the disadvantages of intrinsic motivation?
->Extroverts require more extrinsic motivation
->Beginners may not get much enjoyment as they are always failing
What are the advantages of extrinsic motivation?
-> Good motivation for beginners
->Strong motivational source
->Can provide a goal to aim for
What is the difference between assertion and aggression?
Assertion is channelled aggression which is inside the rules, done without the intention to harm and is controlled. However, hostile aggression is reactive, out of the rules and is done with the intention to harm
How is a S-R bond developed in the aggressive-cue hypothesis?
The frustration of a goal being blocked leads to a predisposition/readiness to be aggressive if cues are present, thereby leading to a stimulus response bond being developed
What is self-efficacy?
Our confidence levels in a specific task
What is self-confidence?
our belief in our own abilities
which form of vicarious experiences can experts use?
Mental rehearsal to visualize themselves doing a demo in order to gain self-efficacy
Why is negative reinforcement bad for beginners?
They may be unaware of the correct response to a stimulus with a lack of criticism
