Q

How do you name salts?

A

The first part of salts will be the name of the insoluble reactant eg zinc oxide. The second part of salts will be the name of the acid eg hydrochloric acid = chloride

Q

What is the method of making a soluble salt (4 steps) :

A

1) . Add acid to a beaker
2) . Add insoluble reactant to the beaker, stirring the mix
3) . Continue to add insoluble reactant until it is in excess
4) . Filter the mix in the beaker to remove excess reactant

Q

Why would you add the salt in excess when making soluble salts?

A

The salts are in excess so all of the acid is reacted as otherwise it will contaminate the salt and become dangerously contaminsated
