  2. Visit Ka’aba - Circle 7x anticlockwise
  3. Hills - They walk 7x on the walkway that links hills of Safa and Marwah
  4. Arafat - Muhammad gave last speech. Adam/Eve expelled from garden here.
  5. Visit Muzdalifah. Collect 49 pebbles. Go to Mina to throw these at 3 stone walls.
  6. Makkah - Circle Ka’aba 7x. Hajji = man. Cut hair. Hajja = women completed Hajj
  7. Madinah - Travel to Madinah visit Prophet’s Mosque.

What is Ashura or Day of Remembrance?
Shi’a Muslims?
Sunni Muslims?

A

Important Shi’a Festival that remembers the death of leader Husayn, son of Ali and grandson of Muhammad, who was killed in battle in Iraq.
Involves sad rituals, drama performances and processions or mourning.
Shi’a Muslims gather, hear speeches and beat their chests. Some even cut themselves many Shi’a are against this.
Sunni Muslims may visit Husayn’s tomb. Sunni Muslims call this day Atonement.

A

This was started by Muhammad. It remembers Abraham being willing to sacrifice his son and obeying God. It involves mosque prayers, visiting family, including all animal sacrifice giving meat/money to the poor. Celebrated end of Hajj.

A

Muhammad began this in Madinah. It involves decorating homes, fasting, forgiveness, remembering and praying for dead relatives, cards, presents, food, new clothes.
Celebrates end of Ramadan, giving thanks to God for help in Qur’an.
