Pap Questions Flashcards
What do you know about papillon
Started in 1965
Why pap over Sundance who also does utility work.
I have friends at papillon and like the environment they told me is there
I prefer the area to the Vegas area as well.
What is your biggest weakness.
Stubborn
What would you do if the lead pilot asked you to fly in conditions you are uncomfortable with? The schedule is booked and passengers expect a flight
Not fly at the end of the day it’s my responsibility as pic
What is the dumbest thing you’ve done in a helicopter and how did you learn from it?
Flying about 15 feet above the ground while doing my 141 checkout flight.
I learned that no matter my skills at that level the chance in me surging or passengers was slim to none and it was a point less risk to take. Even if I was told to do it. I should’ve just said no and not let the pressure get to me.
What are some things you like and dislike about quantum?
Likes-
Making your own schedule
Being able to talk directly with the mechanics
Teaching international students
Dislikes
Use of very old teaching materials and not being able to use technology to help in the teaching process
Very tense work environment
Not know if you’ll have students to make a paycheck.
Where do you see yourself in 4-5 years?
Back in Denver or Houston doing EMS work
What will you do if you have an opportunity to get your dream job halfway through your contract with papillon
Continue to work at papillon and honor the contract I signed.
What are some concerns with a semi rigid rotor system? How can you recover if you feel low g
Mast bumping from low g conditions
Gentle aft cyclic to reload the main rotor disk the left cyclic to correct for the roll once positive g’s have been restored.
What is settling with power and how do you recover
Settling with power is when the helicopter begins to descend vertically into its own vortices. This is due to not having sufficient power available to sustain an oge
Lower collective witch decreases the pitch in the blades creating smaller vortices nose down of the helicopter which allows forward movement away from your vortices and creates less induced flow through the disk making your rotor more efficient at a lower power setting.
What do you do if your clutch light comes on for 8 seconds?
Not this is normal and the are retensioning as they’ve warmed up and loosened.
What is the definition of land as soon as practical and land immediately
Land as soon as practical-
Land immediately -
What will you do if you’re returning to an airport within the 30nm mode c vail and you lose your transponder
Continue flight to my destination
What will you do if you have to fly from one airport to another within the mode c vail to get your transponder worked on?
Inform them 1 hour prior to the flight
- What would you do to plan a high peak drop off of passengers?
- How will you get the temp for planning purposes at the peak?
- What would you do if you got there and the temperature was warmer than expected?
- If you didn’t have the power for an oge hover at the peak what would you do?
- Use the OGE hover chart to determine my hover ceiling
- You can use the standard temp lapse rate
- You could perform an OGE hover to see if you have the available power
- Leave and comeback at a later time when temps have cooled or your weight has lowered due to fuel burn then attempt it again
